Hip Hip Hooray!

Guess what you'z guyz! Caleb got a job this morning! He will be working at a ranch in Montague, Montana, which is about a 45 minute drive from here. There's a joke about Montana distances; you don't measure in miles, you measure in the time between towns. So it is two towns from here. I thank The Lord for helping us out of a rough spot. As you may or may not know, Caleb had no work and no money, and we owe everyone some dough.
It will be nice to have a new house, and some peace. But I'm also a little stressed because there will be no in-laws to take the baby for a while. It will be all me. Egads! We will be in the middle of nowhere again.
Speaking of the baby, we did have a late baby shower. We got a bunch of 1-2 year old clothes, and a few toys. Gid still doesn't have a bed of his own or a playpen and such. He can roll around like crazy now, and can stay sitting up by himself. He's pretty vocal and grabby, he loves to death-grip my face and bite my chin with all his might. It's hilariously painful.
Caleb has been trying to sell his car and his giant tv for a while, with no luck. Ah shucks. And for some reason my left knee has been killing me for a few days! It hurts to walk or bend it or straighten it. In fact it hurts right now sitting down. It feels like it got smashed with a sledge hammer but I don't remember hurting it at all.
Well I hope this ranch job and new house work out better than all the other experiences we've had. I am happy and skeptical because we've been treated like crap too many times. Let's see what happens!

Are You Asking For A Challenge?!

Bah. That photo contest was a dumb idea. I'm already losing interest in that train wreck. Anyway, I was noticing that very few people seem to read and/or comment on my blog. Hey I know it's nothing to get excited about, but at least pretend to be interested in my stagnant life here. This is close to the only connection I have with the fam anymore. Fam, what a weird word. It sounds too pop culturey. I'll stick with 'family' from now on.
I'll get to a point here. This blog stuff has been more fun to browse around and read other people's stuff than to write my own. I came across relatives that I even forgot I had! It's neat and depressing at the same time. I get to thinking "When was the last time I saw them?" "When will I ever see them again?" and "Yowza, they're married with kids?!" I feel so lonely nowadays. I miss road trips and family reunions and 7 hour drives in the car to California or Phoenix. Sheesh, I only get to Utah about once a year to see my own parents anymore, heaven only knows when I will see my cousins again.
So to my cousins that I used to hang out with, I will try to talk to you more often. If nothing else, I will try to hunt down your e-mail addresses. I need all the long-distance friends I can get, 'cause making friends here in Montana is never gonna happen. But this has to be a two-way thing; you have to talk back to me! (I'm looking at you, Courtney! I commented you on myspace and never heard back!)
Well to everyone, I'm not the coolest family member to talk to, but I just might be the most desperate. My e-mail is kohga_ninja@hotmail.com to anyone who will accept my challenge!

MT is so em-ty.

Aunt Kristi's always good for a laugh.

Shasta with Gideon during his gender identity crisis.

Reagan on his way to get a fake i.d.

Papa and The Gid.
...
Oh man! I loved visiting Utah so much that I was extra sad to go home. I felt so happy and comfortable being there, like it was meant to be! Thanks to everyone for gas money and for being so nice to us. Caleb said it was a good visit too. And FYI, he said if he found a really good job in Utah, he would consider moving. We really need a house and source of income nowadays.
In other news, Gideon is still so cute and sweet. He has a slight cold; stuffy nose, coughing, pretty tired. I'm surprised it took him so long to get sick, considering the crowded petri-dish of germy kids that we live in. Splehk. Caleb is also a little bit sick, he has been since we got home. He is a really slow healer. I am not sick yet, but I am losing so much sleep that I probably will be.
Caleb's mom is planning to throw me a baby shower this month, hmm :S I have never heard of a baby shower where the baby is already 5 months old. But whatevs, I think some of the people will give me cash, so that's grood.
I gave myself a haircut a few days ago. It looks kind of ridiculous but, oh-wellingtons. I keep it up most the time anyway since I am shedding like a sheepdog. I heard that after pregnancy, you lose lots of hair for some reason. It's pretty gross and driving me nutso.
What else, what else... I just finished reading The Catcher In The Rye, that was interesting. It's surprisingly um, eventless. For those of you who haven't read it, it's just this foul-mouthed guy describing a few days out of his life in great detail. It's pretty amusing though.
I think I'm out of things to write about...smrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg.

Some photos of the boy... He's a big one! The chart says he's above the 98th percentile. I have a cute video of him laughing, but the upload didn't work. I'll try again later. We love him lots!

Trip to Utah?!

Hey fans. Well Caleb agreed that if the weather was cold enough to give him time off, and if I could come up with the money, he would take me and Gideon to Utah! I know, I know, but save your applause. Then, Mom figured with gas around $1.50 a gallon, and my car getting about 26 mpg on the highway, I would only need about $80 to get to Utah and $80 to get back! Okay, now you can cheer. That figure is less than half of what it used to be to make this trip! So, I asked Mom to discuss it with the fam, and if each of my brothers and sisters could donate say 10 or 15 bucks, that would be enough to come down! Can you bewieve it?
To sum up, I would like to know what everyone thinks of this plan, and if they think it would be possible to start the "Finally Get to See Sami, Caleb and their Cute Baby" fund.
Okay, well here's to me getting my hopes up! :)

Great and Good, Grood.

Just wanted to post this real quick-like. I just found out that what I thought were stubborn white lumps of thrush in Gideon's mouth are actually something called Bohn's nodules...? Ever heard of those? Anyway, I guess they are common and harmless, although gross looking. That means that whatever was actually thrush went away weeks ago! Huzzah! I stopped using the violet gunk, I think that pretty much took care of everything. I hope the real thrush won't come back! So that's exciting, huh? I'm glad that he's okay, although I feel pretty dumb for not figuring it out sooner. That's what the first kid is for, right? Hahaha...uhh.... hmm.

Useless Updates :D

So, Kristi threatened me if I didn't keep blogging. Oh yeah Kristi, who is that baby I am holding in that banner photo? Hyrum, perhaps? Man, look how awesomely great I was back then. Now I'm a boring mom with my hair in a bun. Almost every time I log into my blog, something new is on there, it's like Christmas! Half of the photos that Kristi puts up are ones I've forgotten even exist. Um, nothing really worth blogging about. I hate it here at the in-law's house. Aggggggzzz!
Wait, there is something worth telling, I forgot. Caleb is working on our own little house! They have already poured the concrete walls for the basement level. He and his dad are over there right now working on it some more. Oh the excitement! It's kinda small, but what do you expect for a first house? I hope it actually gets finished and I get a chance to live in there!

Also, we are trying the gentian violet goo on baby Gideon. His face is all smudgy purple, it's cute and sad at the same time. I cannot believe how long this thrush has lasted! If this stuff doesn't work, then I dunno! A stronger prescription from the doctor's office, I suppose... which we could never afford. No, I don't have health insurance. Save your lecture! I know I should, blahhhh. Anyway, back to Gideon. I feel bad for him, but he's a pretty good sport. He is still happy and growing like crazy. He's 13 weeks old today, I do believe, and he's about 16.5 lbs. Yowza! He's already outgrowing his 3 month clothes and fitting into some clothes labeled 6 months. At this rate, I won't be able to carry him around by 6 months. My mom said that's how Justin was as a baby, so I guess Gideon could grow up to be 6'4".Gideon without Gentian Violet
Gideon after the Gentian Violet. Awww.
